Today we actually had the sports festival. It was super fun, with lots of activities and entertainment including the dance clubs. Overall, it was probably one of the best days so far. All of the activities are on the program that Katou sensei gave me. There was even a kiss between two dudes in 華のステ-ジ.
Day 25 – 24th Sept
Today we had practice for the sports festival and it was really fun. We all had to bring our chairs downstairs and sit on the field while everyone did the days activities. First we got into rows and did a lot of bowing and then we started to do the days activities. Some of the activities included the strange activity where are you step on another person’s back and you do a race where you go back and forth stepping on other people‘s backs and another one was pole pulling where everyone ran towards a pole and tried to pull it in that direction in her whichever team had the most poles won. Today was a practice today so we didn’t run through all the activities but it was really fun to see all the activities being prepared anyway. The real sports day is on Friday.
Day 7 – 6th Sept
Today the other students had exams, so we were able to do other things while they were doing their tests. First, we spent a short while figuring out kanji for Japanese names that we would have, and afterwards we did a tea ceremony. The tea ceremony was really fun, we had sweets and drank matcha. The sweets had to be cut into four before being eaten, and everything had to be done in a certain way. The tea was surprisingly hard to make, as you have to mix it in a way that makes a variety of bubbles. It was really tasty afterwards and I really enjoyed it. We then went to the calligraphy room and actually wrote our names in kanji for calligraphy. It was my first time doing calligraphy and my calligraphy was really bad haha. We then spent the rest of the day in the library reading books and drawing. It was a really fun day.
Day 3 – 2nd Sept
Woke up at 5:30 when the light woke me up, slept until 6:30 and got on the bus at 7:15. We went to school and I had to do a speech in front of the whole school introducing myself. Then we sat inside and watched them all line up for the fire drill and then I joined them in class. I made some new friends that like kpop. We went home at midday because they only had a half day, to hand in their holiday hw and stuff. We went home, ate lunch, and then went to get my bus ticket. Dinner was nice because on Mondays they all come together as a family and sing songs and it was really fun, we messed around afterwards.
Day 2 – 1st Sept
Woke up at 7ish this morning 🙂
They like classical music, which I also like very much ahah.
Going to church because it’s a Sunday. I’m not religious myself but I thought it would be an interesting experience.
Went to church, it was fun. They did a bunch of testimonies and I listened to the translation through the headphones. They were really friendly and afterwards we went to this seminar. We went home and had lunch (this venizuelan bread with meat) and watched a movie. Then we went out to the sunshine wharf and played volleyball/skateboarded. Then we ate dinner at this family restaurant and it was really tasty.
Day 1 – 31st Sept
The plane was good and it didn’t feel too long 🙂
The host family is really nice, we ate ramen for dinner at the airport together. They go shopping really late haha, when we returned home they went out shopping.
